Many commercial buildings and an increasing number of homes have Air Conditioning (AC) systems. These AC systems should be carefully maintained and managed in order that they do not consume too much energy.

Inspections of Large Air Conditioning Systems

Air Conditioning (AC) Inspection Legal RequirementsAir conditioning systems where the total system cooling capacity is greater than 12kWr (whether in dwellings or non-dwellings) will be inspected at intervals not exceeding 5 years.

The inspection will include an efficiency assessment, a review of their sizing and advice on improvements or replacements and alternative solutions.

The Air Conditioning inspections will need to be carried out by registered and accredited energy assessors.

Implementation of Measures – Deadline not start time!

4th January 2009 - First inspection of all existing systems >250kW
4th January 2011 - First inspection of all remaining systems >12kW
